She was moved to waiting medical per- sonnel but subsequently died from her injuries, the release said. Using their patrol cars deputies safely removed six children, ranging in age from 2 to 15 years old, to a safe location. With the assistance of Red Bluff and Corning police officers, and officers from the California Highway Patrol, deputies surrounded the prop- erty. The CHP helicopter located Justin Sides in a field to the north of the residence. He was de- ceased and appeared to have died from a self in- flicted shotgun wound to the head. Deputies confirmed that the children were home during the incident but did not witness the incident. The department reported there is a history of domestic violence in the relationship and that there had been a previous domestic violence tem- porary restraining order, although not one active for several years.
