1.TheTaxpayerAdvocate Service (TAS) is an indepen- dent organization within the IRS and is your voice at the IRS. 2. We help taxpayers whose problems are causing financial difficulty. This in- cludes businesses as well as individuals. 3. You may be eligi- ble for our help if you've tried to resolve your tax problem through nor- mal IRS channels and have gotten nowhere, or you believe an IRS pro- cedure just isn't working as it should. 4. The IRS has adopted a Taxpayer Bill of Rights that includes 10 fundamental rights that every taxpayer has when interacting with the IRS: Taxpayer Bill of Rights The Right to Be In- formed. The Right to Quality Ser- vice. The Right to Pay No More than the Correct Amount of Tax. The Right to Challenge the IRS's Position and Be Heard. The Right to Appeal an IRS Decision in an Indepen- dent Forum. The Right to Finality. The Right to Privacy. The Right to Confidenti- ality. The Right to Retain Rep- resentation. The Right to a Fair and Just Tax System. Our TAS Tax Toolkit at TaxpayerAdvocate.irs.gov can help you understand these rights and what they mean for you. The toolkit also has ex- amples that show how the Taxpayer Bill of Rights can apply in specific sit- uations. 5. If you qualify for our help, you'll be assigned to one advocate who will be with you at every turn. And our service is always free. 6. We have at least one local taxpayer advo- cate office in every state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. You can call your advocate, whose number is in your local di- rectory, in Pub. 1546, Tax- payer Advocate Service — Your Voice at the IRS, and on our website at irs.gov/ advocate. You can also call us toll-free at 877- 777-4778. 7. The TAS Tax Toolkit at TaxpayerAdvocate.irs.gov has basic tax information, details about tax credits (for individuals and businesses), and much more. 8. TAS also handles large- scale or systemic problems that affect many taxpay- ers. If you know of one of these broad issues, please report it to us at www.irs. gov/sams. 9. You can get updates at facebook.com/ Your- VoiceAtIRS Tw i t t e r. c o m / Yo u r - VoiceatIRS youtube.com/TASNTA 10. TAS is here to help you, because when you're dealing with a tax prob- lem, the worst thing you can do is to do nothing at all. TAXTIP 10 things to know about the Taxpayer Advocate Service The new disc golf proj- ect was one of two featured activities at the annual 4-H Leader Appreciation Barbe- cue on Wednesday evening at Cone Grove Park. 4-H volunteer leaders Dan Link and Dan John- son coached adults and 4-H members who tried throw- ing the discs into the bas- ket targets. Disc golf will be a county- wide project open to Te- hama County 4-H members beginning this fall. At nearby tables, 4-H members and leaders, as well as members of the Te- hama County Board of Su- pervisors, designed and assembled rockets, which were then launched with a simple PVC and soda bottle launcher. The Rockets to the Res- cue activity will be a part of the 2014 National Sci- ence Experiment at Te- hama County's 4-H Open House during 4-H week in October. Meanwhile, UC Cooper- ative Extension staff and families prepared a tri-tip dinner for about 50 mem- bers and leaders. Volunteer club leaders and project leaders are needed all over Tehama County. Call the 4-H office at 527- 3101 to become a volunteer. Member enrollment is now open as well; online enroll- ment is available at 4hOn- line.com or at the 4-H of- fice.
