F or 125 years, Kappa Kappa Gamma has been the leader of Greek Life at The Ohio State University. Throughout our storied history, Beta Nu has a tradition of being the first. Not only was Beta Nu the first sorority chartered on campus in 1888, but we were also the first chapter to own an official sorority house in 1921. Today, we have the opportunity to be the first once again, as the first sorority to participate in OSU's Second-Year Transformational Experience Program. A Tradition of Firsts "When I compare my Beta Nu experience to that of my daughter and other current members, there are many striking differences. But I take comfort in knowing that the most impactful elements of my experience are the same—the strong sisterhood, leadership and development opportunities, and a foundation of support." –Libby Banbury Germain '77 O ur Kappa home at 55 East 15th Avenue is the foundation of Beta Nu undergraduate life. It has been a home away from home for hundreds of young women and a classroom where our sisters practice the values that have defined our sisterhood for generations. With more than 2,000 initiates, Beta Nu has nurtured and supported women during some of the most formative years of their lives, cultivating lasting friendships in the process. As alumnae, we can trace many of our best college memories back to our Kappa experience. While there may be some differences in today's chapter compared to the one you knew, one thing remains the same: sororities play a significant role in the development of young collegiate women. In addition to gaining lifelong friendships, our members acquire valuable life skills, including teamwork, leadership, organization, communication, networking, and etiquette. These traits are integral to personal success and have helped make us the women we are today. Now more than ever, this growth is crucial in today's competitive world. Kappa continues to recruit some of the most outstanding women at Ohio State. However, if we wish for Beta Nu to continue its strong presence on the OSU campus, we must ensure that we are providing a safe, modern, and competitive facility for future members. Now is the time for us to ensure that Beta Nu continues to be the First and, as always, the Finest chapter at Ohio State.
