U.S. Department of Justice, Of- fice of Justice Programs’ Bureau of Justice has made available funding under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. This pro- gram furthers the Department’s mission by assisting state, local and tribal efforts to prevent or reduce crime and violence. The County of Tehama is eligible and has been approved to receive from JAG a direct award of $18,602.00 under this program. Funding may be used for six pur- pose areas, which address a wide variety of activities. This grant will partially fund the purchase and or upgrade of emergency communications ra- dio equipment to be in compli- ance with the Federal Communi- cations Commission (FCC man- date Public Notice DA 09-2589) for all users of mobile radio services in the 150-174 MHz band and the 421-512 MHz band to migrate to narrow band (12.5 kHz or narrower).
