A : In fact, that's where her act- ing career began. The former model was among the regulars on a short-lived 1989 ABC spinoff of "Who's the Boss?" called "Living Dolls," about a modeling agency. Her role in that — as she amusingly described it to us when her current CBS series began — basically con- sisted of her entering a scene by saying, "Hi, everybody!," then ending it by saying, "Come on, let's go!" Guest shots on "A Different World" and "Amen" followed, then a longer stay on "Knots Landing." Berry then shifted her main atten- tion to feature films, but TV movies also stayed in the mix for her with such efforts as the Oprah Winfrey- produced "The Wedding" and "Their Eyes Were Watching God." Berry's top home-screen effort up to now arguably was a 1999 HBO biography that she also produced, "Introducing Dorothy Dandridge," for which she won a number of acting awards including an Emmy. That film was co-written by Shonda Rhimes, now a major television force as the maker of "Grey's Anatomy," "Scan- dal" and ABC's forthcoming "How to Get Away With Murder." Q : Can you tell me what the status of "King & Maxwell" is? Has it been canceled, or will it be back? — Paul Johnson, Fay- etteville, N.C. A : It was one-and-done for the mystery series, which TNT canceled after its maiden run of epi- sodes. Its stars have already moved onto other projects; Jon Tenney joined ABC's "Scandal" last season, and Rebecca Romijn is staying with TNT by appearing in an upcoming series inspired by the cable net- work's "Librarian" TV movies. Romijn also is the host of the Game Show Network series "Skin Wars," which premieres this Wednesday, Aug. 6. Q : Are there any more new epi- sodes of the show "History Detectives" planned? — Rodney Bell, Clermont, Fla. A : The PBS program just finished a July run under a revised for- mat that made it "History Detectives Special Investigations," using mod- ern techniques to explore such true mysteries as the disappearances of bandleader Glenn Miller and Team- sters leader Jimmy Hoffa. At this writing, the future of the series had not been determined. Q : Jacky Ido, of "Taxi Brook- lyn," looks very familiar to me. Where would I have seen him before? —Mark Scott, Bend, Ore. A : Worldwide — not a small consideration for his casting in the NBC series, which has plentiful European financing — the actor is best-known for the role of Marcel in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglouri- ous Basterds."
