The boys, who play in Pool B at the Senior All-Stars tournament, face Southern California repre- sentative Manhattan Beach at 6 p.m. Sunday to round out pool play. Both Manhattan Beach and Corning hold 3-0 records in pool play, and the winner of Sunday's game between the two will play the runner-up of Pool A at 6 p.m. Monday in the semi- final round. The loser will play the winner of Pool A at 3 p.m. Monday. It's single-elimination from there, and the winner of the West Regional Tournament's cham- pionship game on Tuesday will represent the region at the Se- nior League World Series in Ban- gor, Maine. THESCORE By John Wawrow The Associated Press CANTON, OHIO Michael Strahan is pleased to know he is scheduled to go last during the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremo- nies. That means the former New York Giants star pass-rusher won't be the first to break down in tears once the 2014 seven-mem- ber class is inducted today. "I am not going to be the first one to crack," Strahan pro- nounced with a familiar gap- toothed grin Friday. "But it'll be interesting. I just told the guys, 'It's OK. If you're going to cry, this is the opportunity to cry where nobody can say anything to you.'" If that's the case, Andre Reed might not make it through Friday. The former Buffalo Bills receiver was having trouble keeping his emotions in check after meeting former teammate, quarterback Jim Kelly, who is battling cancer. "I almost broke down and cried," Reed said. "Three months ago, we didn't know if (Kelly) was going to be in Canton. Yeah, my heart kind of beat a bit faster when I saw him." HALL OF FAME Strahan expects emotions to flow By Doug Ferguson The Associated Press AKRON, OHIO Sergio Garcia doesn't know anything about be- ing in a zone. He had no trouble identifying the best round of his career. Garcia one-putted the final 11 holes and made birdies on his last seven holes Friday in the Bridges- tone Invitational to tie the course record at Firestone with a 9-un- der 61 and take a three-shot lead into the weekend. He had a birdie putt on every hole on the back nine, missing only a 15-footer from the fringe at No. 11. Garcia shot 27 on the back nine, a course record. "Just one of those moments that you love and you enjoy, and you wish there were no end," he said. It matched the tournament re- cord held by Tiger Woods, who shot 61 in 2000 and 2013, and Jose Maria Olazabal, who shot his 61 in 1990. Woods went on to win by 11 shots in 2000 and seven shots last year. Olazabal won by 12 in the World Series of Golf. Garcia still has work to do. AMERICAN LEGION Red Bluff Bulls dispatch Fairfield, 5-4 By Howie Rumberg The Associated Press NEW YORK Ryan Vogelsong's strategy in the dugout before the ninth inning was simple: keep quiet. Tired but eager for a shot at his first nine-inning complete game, the right-hander chose not to an- swer his coaches when asked how he was feeling. He was just fine, finishing off his second career complete game with a perfect ninth to lead the San Francisco Giants to a swift 5-1 victory over the New York Mets on Friday night for their second straight win after a six-game skid. "I just kind of didn't answer them because I didn't want to come out," said Vogelsong, who had a six-inning complete game against the Cubs in 2011. "It was something I wanted to do." Vogelsong (6-8) faced 28 bat- ters, one over the limit, allowing Juan Lagares' soft single leading off the sixth and Lucas' Duda's 20th homer to start the eighth. In ending a five-decision losing skid, he walked one and got two double plays. Vogelsong threw 102 pitches in the game that took 2 hours, 6 minutes. Brandon Crawford had a run- scoring single, Matt Duffy an RBI single for his first big league hit and Hunter Pence added a two- run triple and RBI groundout off Jonathon Niese (5-7) for San Fran- cisco. The Giants were coming off a horrid homestand in which they lost five of six to fall out of first place in the NL West. They im- proved to 30-20 on the road. "We normally play very well at home," Giants manager Bruce Bo- chy said. "We just have a tough time scoring runs there. I don't know what to do to change it but we're working on it."
