The Zeta Phi page 2 T his spring, Zeta Phi continued its long tradition of academic excellence by once again placing first in grades with a GPA of 3.342. For the 2013-14 school year, Zeta Phi had the highest GPA of any fraternity, exceeding the all-Greek and all-university averages, and leading in GPA for new members. Zeta Phi employs numerous methods to help our members achieve academic success, including mandatory study hours; an active mentor program, designed to foster academic acclaim for pledges; and Yeckel Library. By instilling Zeta Phi's values and work ethics during members' freshman year, we have been able to win grades at the University of Missouri the past 14 out of 16 years. Additionally, to show our appreciation for our teachers and professors, the men of Beta Theta Pi hold an annual Teacher Appreciation Dinner in the dining hall of the fraternity house. The teachers receive a tour of the house and an excellent dinner prepared by our cooks. With the countless resources Beta provides, academic success becomes second nature for every member. A farewell dinner with the seniors for their dedication to the chapter, followed by the tradition of the senior's parting words at chapter renewed the sense of lasting brotherhood here at Zeta Phi. While we are sad to see another class pass through 520, we know they will represent us well as they succeed in their respective fields. TOP SHOWING ON CAMPUS The active chapter exceeded expectations this year. Our intramural teams came in first for the spring semester and second overall for the year. Our academic scores continue to surpass that of the all-men's and all-university averages as we look to maintain our record of being the top academic chapter on campus. INDIVIDUAL RECOGNITIONS Chris Shea '17 was elected as the Trulaske College of Business Student Council president, and Amit Patel '15 was tapped as a new member into Omicron Delta Kappa as recognition for his accomplishments and service to the university and the community. These men, among others, have consistently shown their commitment to Beta Theta Pi and serve as a model to the Betas who succeed them.
