Pest management meeting Quilt to raise money for city pool Carolyn Colgate, The meeting will include information on the olive fly and olive pest management district activi- ties, biology and control and the olive fly trapping program. Also to be discussed will be the biology, moni- toring and control of the black scale and the rela- tionship between it and the olive fly. The meeting will end with a lunch sponsored by the Tehama County Olive Pest Management District. Those planning to attend and stay for lunch must contact the office by today at 865-1155. Quilters meeting Monday The Sun Country Quilt Guild will be holding a sew-in at the special time of 3p.m. on Monday, June 27, at the Red Bluff Community and Senior Center, 1500 South Jackson St. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Bring any projects which you are working on and join the Sun Country Quilters for a very socia- ble event and get to know other quilters. Three demonstrations related to quilting will be held. Interested Quilters may attend for a fee of $5 or join the guild for a membership fee of $30. Colgate’s business involves taking people’s used or new T-shirts and creating one-of-a-kind quilts for them for birth- days, Christmas, gradua- tions and more. She also makes a few quilts a year to help out organizations to help them raise money for dif- ferent events. Local businesses sup- porting the River Park Festival donated used and new T-shirts that were made into the new quilt. The quilt will be in the silent auction at the Wilcox Oaks Golf Club tonight starting at 8. The belt system used in this program is white belt (beginner), blue (novice), green (inter- mediate), brown 3rd Degree with one red tab (intermediate- advanced), brown 2nd Degree with two red tabs (advanced), brown with one black tab (senior) and Black Belt 1st Degree with one red tab (signifying birth, begin- ner at life in the Martial Arts). The system of Jujutsu that they study is linked to "Edo Machi-kata Taiho Jutsu" (Edo period Japan Samurai "arrest- ing" arts).
