Bergeron will start his final season on the ABC show in September, beginning a long victory lap for what will have been a 15-season run for him (and 25 seasons for the show overall). He'll remain in the ABC family, though, continuing as host of "Dancing With the Stars" — which likely will keep going for a while. Q : Is Grace Van Pelt on "The Mentalist" the same actress who portrayed her originally? — Ken Daley, Niles, Ohio A : She is ... or was, we should say, since she's no longer a regular on the CBS show. Amanda Righetti played the role from the premiere onward, but after Van Pelt was kidnapped and then rescued last season, she and husband Wayne Rigsby (played by Owain Yeoman) decided to leave law en- forcement — and the series. Q : Will Chris Harrison be the host again of the new "Bach- elor in Paradise" show that I've seen advertised? — Stacy Frost, Buffalo, N.Y. A : Of course. At this point, how could there be any variation of the "Bachelor"/"Bachelorette" fran- chise without Harrison on board? The newest of the ABC offshoots — premiering Aug. 4 — gives past contestants another shot at finding love. Three of them will be trying again fairly quickly, having been contenders for Andi Dorfman's af- fections on the latest edition of "The Bachelorette." Q : I enjoyed watching Steve McQueen in "Bullitt" on tele- vision recently. I've heard he did his own driving in the movie's famous car chase. Is that true? — Lee Drew, Antioch, Calif. A : He did in the close-up scenes that clearly show him at the wheel, but others were driving the Mustang in most long-range shots of the vehicle. An avid driver, McQueen wanted to do as much of the sequence as possible, but there were the insurance concerns that typically apply to a film's star. Thanks to the masterful editing of the sequence, it's virtually impos- sible to tell that it isn't McQueen who's literally in the driver's seat at any given point of that classic 11- minute scene. Q : Will "Flashpoint" ever be on the air again? I see reruns late at night and really miss the show. — Sandy Lukowicz, Cov- entry, R.I. A : At this point, the repeats are all there are. The Canadian- made police drama ended produc- tion after five seasons, and to our knowledge, there's been no discus- sion of reviving it.
