The Gamma Zeta House Corporation has been busy making improvements, and we would love for all of our alumnae to stop by and check it out. The main project in 2012 was to resurface the parking lot and driveway. This project included widening the circle drive, replacing the curbing, and rebuilding the retaining wall on the west side of the property. Additionally, the senior pledge class donated funds to refinish the front door and paint it red. Several improvements were made inside the house, as well. New light fixtures were installed in the upstairs ladies' rooms and in the dining room, and the downstairs phone booths were removed. The upstairs hallway was updated with new paint, crown molding, light fixtures, and door hardware. This renovation helped make the upstairs feel warm and inviting for active and potential new members. In 2013, the dining room chairs were reupholstered, the exterior of the house was painted, and a wood fence was installed along the south side of the property. The Moms Club updated the study room with new carpet, lighting, paint, chairs, and electrical wiring in the floor. Also, the Dads Club purchased a leaf blower, picture frames, additional study room chairs, and a study room table. We really appreciate the support of the Moms and Dads Clubs! Earlier this year, a keyless entry system was installed for the house. It is a more secure replacement for the door code system. This summer there are more improvements scheduled. All of the upstairs and downstairs ladies' rooms will get new built-in desks with shelving. Also, the house's Wi-Fi will be updated, and the downstairs hallway light fixtures will be replaced. The House Corporation is always looking for volunteers. The board meets approximately six times per year at the Gamma Zeta house. If you are interested in attending a meeting and/or joining the board, please contact Kim Bartak '00 at kim.bartak@gmail.com. Alpha Chi at K-State Makes a Difference in the Community Actives Welcome 57 New Members I t is a wonderful time to be a Gamma Zeta at Kansas State University! Between the fall and spring semesters, we welcomed 57 wonderful new members who are already doing great things for Gamma Zeta. New and active members have been participating in campus philanthropies, intramurals, extra curricular activities, and multiple social events held by Gamma Zeta. We started off the spring by hosting Dodge Domestic Violence, a philanthropy dodgeball tournament on campus for the KSU Greek community. The inaugural event raised $840. Shortly after, three women in the chapter competed in a dance-off at a home basketball game against two fraternities. The women won a $100 donation with their sweet moves. Our second philanthropy, Have a Pie with Alpha Chi and Pike, was also very successful. With the help of the men from Pi Kappa Alpha, we hosted a pizza party with shaved ice, games, and guests had the opportunity to pie the men and women in Gamma Zeta House Corporation Makes Improvements to the Chapter House, Looks for Alumnae Volunteers Winners of the Dodge Domestic Violence dodgeball tournament.
