Gershwin's "Summertime" ends in
this refrain:
One of these mornings
You're going to rise up singing
en you' ll spread your wings
And you' ll take to the sky
But until that morning
ere's a'nothing can harm you
With your daddy and mammy
standing by
ankfully, Jesus warned us that
perilous times would continue until
His return. Here are His words in John
16:33 (NLT) 33 "I have told you all this
so that you may have peace in me. Here
on earth you will have many trials and
sorrows. But take heart, because I have
overcome the world."
It's true...if Christ is our savior we
look forward to eternal bliss. But until
that time, nothing can harm our spirit
with our Heavenly Father standing by.
Once more, let's remember that the heat
of life, just like summertime, can almost
become unbearable at times but we have
a spiritual shade that gives us relief and
supplies a coolness for us that the world
cannot provide. But like any hot day, we
must seek the shade. God has promised
to be your shade in the heat of life, seek
Him, He will not disappoint!
Psalms 121:5-8 NKJ
e Lord is your keeper;
e Lord is your shade at your right
hand.
e sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
e Lord shall preserve you from all
evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
e Lord shall preserve your going out
and your coming in
From this time forth, and even
forevermore.
