We want to know if there will be full cover- age for health insurance, vacation time, potential for raises, etc. For us, it is an essential aspect of employment. Today I want to focus on the ben- efits of Jesus’ death on the cross. What does it mean to each of us as an individual? When we accept His gift to us we will have eternal life. It says in Ecclesiastes 3:11 that He has put eternity into our hearts. We are made in the image of God. We are eternal beings. Our life is not over when we die, but continues forever. You and I were born in sin. Even before we took our first breath, we were sinners. How can that be? Adam and Eve disobeyed God. He told them not to eat of the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden. Their sin against God was passed down to you and me. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." That means that we have missed the mark. We are born into sin. We have no access to God. Our hearts are dark and alienated from the very One who gives life. Jesus’ death on the cross spans that great gulf between sinful man and a Holy God. Jesus took our place when He died on the cross. He paid the penalty of our sin. His shed blood was the payment in full. When we accept this for ourselves, we enter into His forgiveness. Let your mind wrap around this eternal truth. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Salvation is a gift to be received. Jesus paid it all. All we have to do is believe. Faith is taking God at His word. Romans 5:1 says that we are justified by faith. That means that when we accept God’s gift for us, He wipes out all our sin. He writes our name in the Lamb’s Book of Life that will never be blotted out! The benefit of salva- tion is free access to God. This God who is uncreated, who loved us enough to send His Son to die in our place did just that. This God who never takes His eyes off us is gazing on us moment by moment. This One who loves us unconditionally is passionately pursuing us. This One who thinks of us continually is never unaware of or uncaring about us. Isaiah 40:28 says, "Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Cre- ator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understand- ing is unsearchable." I love the verse in 2 Chronicles 16:9 which says, "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him." When we accept God’s gift, we enter into His eternal plan. It says in Ephesians 1:4, "Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love." That means that when Adam and Eve sinned, and passed down that sin to us, it isn’t the final word. God has made provision for everyone to have full Marilyn Adams GodTalk access to Him through the salvation won by His Son, Jesus. John 1:12 says, "But as many as receive Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name." Salvation is a privilege to those who believe; all we need do is to simply believe and confess our belief. Today I encourage you to accept God’s gift of eternal life. It is for everyone. There is no exclusion. It doesn’t matter what kind of sinner you are. God doesn’t classify sin. It says in Romans 10:13, "For whoev- er calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." That means me. That means you. Whoever means everyone without exception. Marilyn Adams is a prolific writer and minister to women and to prisoners. She has received great healing in her life and she ministers what she has been given. Bohrer ordained Tim Bohrer, a graduate of Red Bluff Union High School who graduated from California Baptist University in Riverside, with a Bachelor of Applied Theology Degree, was ordained to the gospel ministry on Feb. 6, by his home church, Ante- lope Home Fellowship. His father, Pastor John Bohrer was in charge of the ordination service. Dr. Gary Martin of the First Baptist Church in Winton, brought the morning message and the chal- lenge to Tim and his wife Mollie and to the church. Martin, a long time friend of the family, was on the ordi- nation council when Pastor John was ordained in May of 1982. Tehama County Church Directory This directory sponsored by: Red Bluff....
