6A Daily News – Friday, June 10, 2011 Education in Tehama County KEEP ON LEARNING LMHS alumni award scholarships The Los Molinos High School Alumni Association honored eight deserving and talented graduating high school seniors during an awards night held June 7. The following students were each awarded a $500 scholarship; Aman- da Jones and Jorge Salazar. The Association administers two other scholarships that are funded by the families of past alumni. The following students were each awarded a $500 Warren Conklin Scholarship Kevin Garnica, Francis Ocampo, Gaumel Murillo and Brean- na Gratreaks. The following students were each awarded a $500 Reed-Talcott Schol- arship Christian Smith and Jessi Southworth. The association is an organization that is composed of former graduates, spouses and other community members who give their time, talents and financial contributions to help the school years after they have graduated and in some cases left the area. The association allocates close to $1,000 a year to the school in dona- tions for various programs, including sober graduation, athletics, library fund and other student related activities and services. Since 1993, the Asso- ciation has given more than $85,000 to Los Molinos High School. Information about joining or supporting the association is available from LMHSAA at P.O. Box 1031. Elks Lodge honors students of the month Courtesy photo Aislinn and Miranda Brand, granddaughters of Marvin and Anne White- man of Red Bluff, finished the school year with many honors and awards. Aislinn, 16, was in marching band, had a principal role in a play, was advertising executive for the school's Literary Magazine, was inducted into the National Honor Society and just received a 30 on her first ACT. Her GPA is 4.0. Miranda Brand, 15, had the lead in a musical, was chosen for District Honor Choir, was 1/2 point away from the Merit Finalist for best overall performer and lettered in Drama and in Vocal Music.
