This is equivalent to planting five million trees or not driving for 4.2 million miles. How did they do it? By participating in the NC GreenPower program, a voluntary program that helps build up North Carolina's clean power when participants purchase blocks of green power (cleaner energy generated through renewable energy resources such as wind, solar and organic matter). A customer's tax-deductible contribution adds that much more green power to North Carolina's power supply resulting in a healthier environment. Through NC GreenPower, all renewable energy resources used are located in our state. Currently 215 producers are providing renewable energy through solar photovoltaics, wind, landfill methane gas, hydroelectric and biomass (wood waste). Visit www.faypwc.com to learn more and sign up for NC GreenPower. Want To Make A Difference? Participate in NC GreenPower How Does Public Power Benefit You? About 14% of your home's monthly energy use goes to heating water. If your hot water heater is more than 10 years old, it probably is not properly insulated. Use of an insulating jacket can reduce your energy bill, save you money and help the environment by preventing over 1,000 lbs. of CO 2 emissions. Having your heating system in working order will make it operate more efficiently – which means you'll help conserve energy and save money. Working Safely • Don't use electric tools around water or wet surfaces or outside in the rain. • If you're trimming or cutting trees, be sure to stay away from power lines, and don't cut trees so they fall on the lines. • Remember to watch out for power lines if you're carrying ladders or long handled tools. Stop. Think. Conserve. More than 2,000 cities and towns in the United States light up their homes, businesses and streets with "public power" electricity that comes from a community-owned and operated utility.
