Another player from that class — and an even higher draft pick — rehabbing with Lattimore last sea- son is poised to make an even big- ger mark. Tank Carradine missed all of last year recovering from a torn ante- rior cruciate ligament in his right knee suffered at the end of the 2012 season with Florida State. There were times, Carradine said, he questioned whether he could ever play at the level that made him the 40th overall draft pick again. The 6-foot-4, 273-pound defen- sive lineman leaned on Lattimore every morning he walked into the training room. "We talked about it all the time," Carradine said Wednesday, the sec- ond day of San Francisco's three- day mandatory minicamp. "Every day we asked each other how we feel and then we just kind of made it like a joke when we see each other. He asks me how I feel, I ask him how he feels and everything. By Josh Dubow The Associated Press ALAMEDA When the Oakland Raid- ers made the decision to acquire Matt Schaub this offseason, they did it be- lieving last season's disastrous per- formance that led to his jersey being burned in effigy in Houston was only an aberration. Nothing the Raiders have seen so far this offseason has dissuaded them from that belief. Coach Den- nis Allen believes Schaub can solid- ify the revolving door at quarterback in Oakland and once again be the player who posted five straight sea- sons with a passer rating above 90. "I think he's been outstanding," Allen said. "That's what you're look- ing for in a veteran quarterback. I don't think we've seen the best of what we're going to see out of Matt Schaub. Even though he is a veteran player, it's still a different offense for him, it's still something new. He's still learning, but I've been very pleased with what I've seen out of him so far." The Raiders have gone through 17 starting quarterbacks the past 11 sea- sons as they have failed to post a win- ning record or make the playoffs in that span. They used three last sea- son in Terrelle Pryor, Matt Flynn and Matt McGloin but only McGloin re- mains after Oakland went 4-12 for a second straight year. While the Raiders are looking for a fresh face to take over the position, Schaub welcomes a fresh start after a rough 2013 in Houston when he set an NFL record by having an inter- ception returned for a touchdown in four straight games, lost the start- ing job to Case Keenum and was ha- rassed by frustrated fans who went as far as burning his jersey. "It's in the past," he said. "I've moved on. That's stuff that's history. What we're in control of is what we do moving forward and I'm into pre- paring for 2014. Anything that's in the past is in the past.
