From placing second overall in Greek Week to raising over $1,200 in our philanthropic events, we've worked hard and enjoyed our success. Our lip sync skit won best choreography, best plot, and Special Olympics athletes' choice. Our pairing also won first place in spirit and second place in community service. It was no surprise that Phi Kappa Theta was one of the most sought after small chapters when it came time to decide Homecoming pairings. ACTIVES LOOK BACK ON CHAPTER HISTORY On the eve of the biggest renovation the house has ever seen, we are more excited than ever to be members of Iowa Xi and rejoice in the rich history of our chapter. While moving everything out of the facility, numerous pictures, trophies, newspaper clippings, and formal/fireside logbooks were discovered. Multiple members, including myself, took the time to go through all of the discovered material. While flipping through the numerous photo albums and logbooks, everyone couldn't help but swell with pride at how rich our organization's history is and the fact that we are able to be a part of it. It's a great time to be a Phi Kap. PHI KAP PLANS FOR RECRUITMENT In terms of recruitment, we have set high expectations and lofty goals for the coming months. Our goal is to sign 12-15 new members over the summer and an additional 5-10 during the fall semester. In the month of April, we had our first recruitment event of the summer in Cedar Rapids. The event consisted of paintball followed by grilling and hanging out at my house. We were fortunate to have three great potential new members attend and offered bids to each of them. In May, we had one member sign and six bids out in total, four of which are highly interested. We plan to continue cold calling and setting up dinner outings in each city we are visiting. In June, we're going to schedule as many house tours and dinners as possible during freshman orientation. The remainder of the summer will consist of various trips around the Midwest (Kansas City, St. Louis, and Minneapolis to name a few) and final cold calling. In the fall, we will invite potential new members to dinner through shared classes and friend networking. In addition, we will host small recruitment events such as bowling, laser tag, and dinner outings. The improvements from the renovation will make it easier to show potential new members how great our historic chapter really is. We have our work cut out for us, but with determination and perseverance we will succeed. As I've said before and I'll gladly say again, it's a great time to be a Phi Kap.
