OUR PROUD HISTORY
S
ince our founding at Iowa State University in 1908, Gamma
Upsilon Chapter has influenced the lives of more than 1,100
young men. Through Alpha Tau Omega we not only learned the
importance of brotherhood, service, morality, and excellence, but
we also developed valuable real-world assets such as leadership
and organizational skills, social skills, and character. We can be
proud of the many brothers who have gone on to successful
careers in engineering, business, law, medicine, and countless
other endeavors.
Whether we knew it at the time or not, the shared
experiences, lessons, and relationships we developed at 2122
Lincoln Way helped contribute to our success and make us
the men we are today. In the 1970s, banners hung on the house
during rush that said: "If you lived here, you'd be home" and
"Summer Home, Summer Not." Our chapter house has always
been a home away from home and a classroom where our
brothers have learned to lead with integrity, ethics, and drive.
Just as the alumni who came before us, it is our collective
responsibility to ensure that future Gamma Upsilon members
have the same opportunity to live and learn together in a safe,
functional, and competitive chapter house. We ask you to
remember those who follow and to carefully consider the project
described in the following pages. With our past and present
secure, now is the time to plan for our future.
