In his eyes, only one other team might compare. He's talking about the San An- tonio Spurs. That's why Wade believes these NBA Finals are just getting started. When he looks at the Spurs, he sees qualities his own team has, including an ability to break down a loss and quickly correct things. It's what Miami did be- fore Game 2 of the finals and it's what Wade expects the Spurs to do before the title series resumes with Game 3 in Miami on Tues- day night. NBA FINALS Heatknow Spurs will be inspired in Game 3 By Josh Dubow The Associated Press ALAMEDA Tyvon Branch has gone from being one of the most experienced members of the Oak- land Raiders defense to one of the unproven ones after missing al- most an entire season with an in- jury. An injection of tested veterans with Super Bowl experience led to the change a year after Branch was one of just two returning de- fensive starters. Branch went down with a bro- ken leg in the second game of the season in 2013 and never re- turned, leaving a big void on a thin defense that was exposed throughout the year. Branch is once again healthy this offseason and trying to fit into a revamped defense that was overhauled in free agency. "We have guys at every position that have had a lot of success in this league," Branch said Monday. "So, the more leaders you can get the better, obviously." The Connecticut native, who grew up a fan of the Rangers and 1994 Stanley Cup- winning goalie Mike Richter, had his best game of the finals by far. He made 32 saves and put the Kings on the cusp of another coronation with a 3-0 victory over New York in Game 3 on Monday night. Los Angeles escaped with two overtime wins at home and then took complete com- mand inside Madison Square Garden to take a 3-0 series edge. The Kings took their first lead of the se- ries on Jeff Carter's goal in the final second of the first period and then stretched the edge to three goals in the second — some- thing the Rangers failed to do in California. New York is facing elimination Wednes- day night in Game 4. While there has been only one come- back from a 3-0 hole in the finals, the Kings erased such a deficit in the first round against San Jose. Defenseman Jake Muzzin scored a power- play goal in the second period, and Mike Richards pushed the lead to three with a goal off a 2-on-1 in the middle frame. Henrik Lundqvist was hardly at fault on the goals, and finished with 12 saves. But Quick was perfect. He made a brilliant save with his stick blade to deny Derick Brassard with 8:40 left in the second shortly after a Rangers power play. That stop came on the heels of Bras- sard having two chances during the advan- tage off a rebound of Brad Richards' shot. Brassard's first attempt was blocked, and the second was stopped by Quick.
