The show was on for only two or three weeks, then it was gone. — Diana Hoffman, St. Marys, Pa. A : Right actor, not-right Raymond Burr series reboot. Underwood actually starred in — and also was a producer on — NBC's update of "Ironside" that had a very brief run last fall. It premiered to less-than- stellar ratings that didn't improve in subsequent weeks, prompting the network to declare the show over after only three airings. One more episode was broadcast after that, and several more stories that had been completed were made available on iTunes. The decision had to be a big disappointment for NBC, which had insisted on having Underwood as the star before giving the show the go- ahead. There was some controversy over the series not having an actor who used a wheelchair in real life as Ironside, but it was explained that flashback sequences required a per- former who also could play out the detective's life before his injury. Q : I was wondering if TNT plans to make more movies in the "Librarian" series with Noah Wyle and Bob Newhart. — Pam Young, DeLand, Fla. A : Actually, a weekly series ver- sion is slated for later this year, but Wyle will have only limited on-air participation, though he'll be an exec- utive producer of the show. Working for TNT again after her run in "King & Maxwell" last year, Rebecca Romijn will be the principal star, with John Larroquette also a cast regular. Ne- whart and Jane Curtin, who also ap- peared in the movies, are expected to turn up in the series as well. Q : Normally, a show is posted to On Demand the day after it is shown on its regular day and time. My problem is that frequently, a show is missing. When I notice there is a missing episode, is there anybody I can contact to fix the issue? My local provider has told me that they don't understand what I'm talking about, or that the individual channel needs to be contacted. — Bill Finkes, Colum- bus, Ohio A : It's interesting that when so many cable companies make On Demand one of their big selling points, someone would tell you they don't know what you're talking about ("retraining," anyone?) ... but with that said, the reply about contacting the individual channel isn't off the mark. The cable supplier only can relay what it's been given to relay. If an episode is missing, it's an issue to be addressed with the related network, which may have a complication with the show's studio over something such as an episode's music rights — which can differ between the original broadcast and ancillary replays, as with On Demand. Network's websites generally have a feature for the public to submit questions, so that may be the way to go in inquiring about such instances.
