CornerstoneCommunity Bank has joined eight other sponsors in underwriting tents at Lassen Volcanic Na- tional Park's planned "Vol- cano Adventure Camp" for youth groups. "Volcano Adventure Camp will be a permanent home for the national park's Youth Camping Program where kids, particularly many who otherwise would never get to visit a national park, experience the out- doors and learn about na- ture while camping," said Lassen Park Foundation Executive Director Kristen Gray. "With Cornerstone's $7,500 contribution, we're just one tent away from having all the youth tents sponsored," Gray said. "We have just two pavilions yet to be sponsored at $50,000 each that come with nam- ing rights, and we're still accepting donations of $500 or more that will be recognized on a donor panel in the campground." The goal is to raise $604,000 for Volcano Ad- venture Camp. The Na- tional Park Service has allo- cated $228,850; the balance will come from private dona- tions like Cornerstone's con- tribution. The project reconstructs the existing Crags Camp- ground for use by youth groups. Volcano Adventure Camp will include ten tent cabins for youth, additional tent cabins for group lead- ers and resident research- ers, pavilions where youth will gather for camp pro- grams, restrooms, show- ers, an area for groups to set up their own tents and areas for campfire pro- grams. Other Volcano Adven- ture Camp tent sponsors include: Bob and Betty Ono, Lee and Judy Salter, Der- rick Anderson, the Murdy Foundation, Interwest In- surance, John Koeberer and Pam Pitts, Art Whit- ney and Caroline Beteta, and an as-yet-unnamed donor. The Lassen Park Foun- dation is a 501.c.3 charita- ble, non-profit organization. More information about its work and Volcano Adven- ture Camp can be found at lassenparkfoundation.org, by writing to Kristen@las- senparkfoundation.org or calling 530-378-2600.
