Friday, May 20, 2011 – Daily News 7A WORLD BRIEFING Arnold puts screen career on hold LOS ANGELES (AP) — Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger put his movie comeback on hold Thursday as he deals with fallout from his affair with his housekeeper and braces for what could be a costly divorce. A statement from Schwarzenegger’s office said the former ‘‘Termina- tor’’ star has asked his tal- ent agency to put all his motion picture projects that are currently under way or being negotiated on hold until further notice. ‘‘Gov. Schwarzenegger is focusing on personal matters and is not willing to commit to any produc- tion schedules or time- lines,’’ the statement said. ‘‘This includes ‘Cry Macho,’ the ‘Terminator’ franchise and other pro- jects under consideration. We will resume discus- sions when Gov. Schwarzenegger decides.’’ The revelation that Schwarzenegger fathered a child with his housekeeper also set the stage for what could be a big-money divorce case that will stand out even in a city that has seen its share of made-for- the-tabloids matrimonial splits. His wife, Maria Shriver, the Kennedy heiress and former network TV anchor, stands to cash in big time financially, according to several prominent divorce attorneys. Although, Cali- fornia is a no-fault divorce state, meaning her hus- band’s acknowledged phi- landering technically can’t be used against him in court, the reality, attorneys say, is that it will be. FBI probing Unabomber in ’82 Tylenol poisonings CHICAGO (AP) — Could the Unabomber and Chicago’s Tylenol poisoner be one and the same? FBI agents investigating the Tylenol killings, unsolved for nearly 30 years, want Ted Kaczynski’s DNA, but they aren’t saying whether there’s any reason to believe he might be a match. Chicago FBI spokes- Congressional leaders agree to extend Patriot Act WASHINGTON (AP) — Top congressional leaders agreed Thursday to a four-year extension of the anti-terrorist Patri- ot Act, the controversial law passed after the Sept. 11 attacks that governs the search for terrorists on American soil. The deal between Sen- ate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker John Boehner calls for a vote before May 27, when parts of the current act expire, according to offi- cials in both parties who spoke on condition of anonymity. The idea is to pass the extension with as little debate as possible to avoid a protracted and familiar argument over the expanded power the law gives to the govern- ment. Support for the exten- sion was unclear. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., wanted tighter restrictions on the govern- ment’s power and may seek to amend it. In the House, members of the freshman class elected on promises of making gov- ernment smaller were skeptical. ‘‘I still have some con- cerns, and at this point I’m leaning against (vot- ing for) it,’’ said one, Rep. Andy Harris, R-Md. The legislation would extend three expiring pro- visions until June 1, 2015, officials said. Your Business can be featured in the... woman Cynthia Yates said the bureau wants DNA from ‘‘numerous individu- als’’ including Kaczynski, although she wouldn’t pro- vide details about any of the others. The FBI’s efforts to get Kaczynski’s DNA became publicly known because of a court motion he filed seeking to keep materials he claims would exonerate him in the $56.00 in Discount Coupons were published last week in the D NEWSAILY RED BLUFF TEHAMACOUNTY … And that does not Count all the ads offering percentage discounts, two-for-ones and Free-with-Purchase offers! Kaczynski lived in the tiny cabin as he sent off mail bombs that killed three peo- ple and wounded several others in attacks that began in the late 1970s. The FBI dubbed the man the Unabomber because the bombs originally targeted university professors and airline executives. Miss. sees flood death VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) — A man died Thurs- day after being pulled from the floodwaters overflowing from the Mississippi River, becoming what is believed to be the first flood casualty since the river started spilling into Mississippi and Louisiana. Walter Cook, 69, had been pulled from the water a day earlier by two fire- fighters on boat patrol in downtown Vicksburg. Cook had been clinging to a fence in chest-deep water, but he was floating in the water by the time the firefighters got to him, said Fire Chief Charles Atkins. Meanwhile, the river was expected to crest Thursday in Vicksburg at 57.1 feet, five inches lower than was projected. RANDAL S. ELLOWAY DDS IMPLANTS DENTISTRY 2426 SO.
