MercyHigh School Caitlyn Safford CaitlynSaffordisaJunior at Mercy High School. Her cumulative GPA is 3.57 and she has taken several advanced classes included Chemistry, Physics, Advanced Placement English and Advanced Placement American Government. Caitlyn is a very enthusiastic and motivated student. She cares about doing well in school and is always working to achieve her goals. Caitlyn participates in many activities at Mercy. Rebecca is an honor roll student and excels in all of her classes. She can rarely be found without a book; she is an avid reader. She is involved in Latina Leadership, which forms connections between Chico State students and young Latina girls to help those girls make their way to college. Rebeccaís goal is college; she wants to attend Brigham Young University-Idaho, where she would like to study music. She enjoys playing the piano and going to the movies. Tanner is thirteen years old and carries a 3.83 grade point average. His smile and sense of humor keep those around him on their toes at all times. Tanner is currently a member of the California Junior Rodeo Association (District One). He was recently named Cowboy Rookie of the Year. He is a team roper and participates in tie-down roping. Tanner also plays AAU basketball for the Tehama Thunder. Career goals for Tanner include being a Professional Rodeo Cowboy and a Fish and Game Warden. She is very well respected by her teachers and peers and gives that same respect back. She is always ready to take on new challenges and approaches every day with a smile and a great attitude. Eliabeth recently started a new club on Maywood's campus, for those students who love Anime. Elizabeth is one of those students that will do anything for you with out having to ask. Elizabeth is a strong, positive, confident, sensitive young lady. She is an excellent student and an amazing person. She has a very bright future ahead of her. Maywood Middle School Shawn McNulty Shawn McNulty has been a member of the California Junior Scholarship Federation at Maywood Middle School for the past two trimesters. He shows respect and admiration for his peers and teachers and commands the same respect back. Shawn has an excellent outlook on life, one that is contagious to anyone around him. Every one of Shawn's teachers report he is an excellent student in their class, and a positive influence on other students. Bend Elementary School Karli Rodriguez 7th Grade Karli is an excellent example of a well-rounded student. From the first day of school, when her goal was to get a 4.0, to today, when she has maintained that, she has excelled in all that she's done. She approaches new projects with enthusiasm and puts her heart and soul into them. Instead of only working with her friends, Karli chooses partners to best complement her skills for the assignment. Not only does she excel in her classwork, Karli is an accomplished athlete. She is currently on three different basketball teams and played through the winter on our school team here at Bend. She participates in soccer at school as well as on a travel team. She loves to volunteer with the younger kids and always has a smile and a kind word. Karli is well on her way to her chosen college, Stanford where she will study to be a pediatrician. Bend Elementary School Russell Raschein 7th Grade As a member of 4-H, Russell has plenty to keep him busy. He currently has twenty-two rabbits! In addition to raising rabbits, Russell works hard on his familyís pistachio and melon farm. He helps mulch, chip, and prepare the earth for the crops. In spite of all that keeps him busy at home, Russell is an exceptional student. He participates in classroom discussions and has well-researched arguments during a debate. His ideas are well thought out and he puts care and attention in all of his work. Russell plants on attending an Art School to study transportation design. Centennial High School Makayla Vigil I believe Makayla vigil is well beyond the point she needs to be, to succeed in today's world. Makayla is the student body President of Centennial. An outstanding quality that Makayla demonstrates is her ability to work cooperatively with others, in both the capacity of leader and team player. She accepts either role willingly and dedicates her attention and energy to accomplish the task at hand. Makayla carries at 3:34 GPA. She is enrolled at Butte and plans to transfer to Chico State University. Kirkwood School Isabella Blanchard 8th Grade Isabella Blanchard is an 8th grader at Kirkwood School and has been attending Kirkwood since she was a kindergartner. In her time at Kirkwood, Isabella has blossomed into a well-rounded, respectful young lady. She has become a leader not only on the volleyball, basketball, and softball teams, but also in the classroom. Bella puts a great amount of effort into her schoolwork and is an honor roll student and fantastic athlete. Bella is known for her great sense of humor, her willingness to help others, and for being a great friend to people of all ages. Some of her biggest inspirations in life are her great-grandfather, her grandmother, and parents who taught her to work hard and persevere. Bella plans on continuing her success in sports and academics throughout high school. Lincoln Street School Marlene Ortiz 8th Grade Sponsored By: "Go out and live your life." Marlene Ortiz once wrote in an essay. Marlene is an exceptional student with unmatched dedication, organization and attention to detail. She has excelled at Performance-Based learning, where she applies her knowledge to skillfully answer questions and complete tasks.
