When and where did you get start- ed? Four of us went to high school together in Fayetteville and formed a band then in 1973. Who would have thought we would be back together again after all these years? We got back together in May of 2006 to play a gig that my brother had booked in Raleigh. We had so much fun and sounded so good we didn't want that to be the end so we added another guitar player and away we went. How did the band get its name? I sat down and wrote down some names that tried to capture what I felt the band was about. I presented a short list to the group and we unani- mously chose "Cool Heat." How would you define your music? Classic R&B and Funk Who are your favorite bands/influences on your music? Earth, Wind & Fire / Tower Of Power / Chicago / Motown Do you write your own music and where does that inspiration come from? Although two of us write our own music, Cool Heat plays covers. We would like to add our own material soon. If you only had two words to describe your band what would they be? Passion & chops What are your hopes/goals for the future of your band? I would like to see the band have more name recognition and be one of the favorite groups in the area. This should help us with more bookings, which we need right now. Where do you see the band five years, 10 years from now? I would like to see the band write and arrange some original music within five years. I would also like to have a recording contract with a label that can appreci- ate our style of music and what we can bring to the music industry. In 10 years, some of us will be in our mid-60s and we hope to continue performing this age- less music. Where can Fayetteville music lovers check you in the near future? www.myspace.com/coolheat06 CALLING ALL LOCAL BANDS Fayetteville wants to know you! So here's your opportunity.
