About 1 a.m. Cody Metcalf, who was arrested on suspicion of fel- ony driving under the influence of alcohol, was traveling south on River View Drive at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and traveled off the roadway, according to a CHP news release. Metcalf's car, a 2006 Mini Coo- per, caught fire with his passen- ger, 24-year-old Kirsten Gardner of Cottonwood, trapped inside, ac- cording to the release. Both Metcalf and Gardner were wearing seat belts, according to the release. Metcalf was booked into Te- hama County Jail with bail set at $150,000.
