When I came to campus in 1948, I knew some girls in the Chapter. There wasn't any doubt that I wanted to pledge Kappa Delta. What does Kappa Delta mean to you? Living in Tuscaloosa has been very special to me and I have been to the Chapter House often. I have gotten to know the girls and always enjoy seeing them. They are very special to me and have always treated me very kindly. What did you enjoy most about your time at The University of Alabama? I came to the university as a junior and met my husband the first day. He was from Tuscaloosa and I'm from Montgomery. He was a trustee of the university and he loved The University of Alabama. I have spent lots of hours there and it has always been special. I am always grateful. Tell me about your family connection to KD? I have three daughters and three granddaughters in Kappa Delta: Betsy Gary '71, Allison Pritchard '74, and Evelyn Pritchard '81; Allison Gary '96, Anne White '99, and Shelton Kitchen '01. All are active with the Chapter. It makes me very proud to have so many women in my family as KD sisters; not many people can claim that. It is a very special bond. I never told any of my children to pledge KD, but they did, and it's a wonderful thing. What motivated you to support the capital campaign? Living in Tuscaloosa, I have a lot of access to the Chapter and have served on the House Corporation for a long time and was president of the Alumni Commission. I have many good friends in Tuscaloosa who were Kappa Deltas and always enjoy the young ones who come along. I always enjoy meeting people and have lots of ties through Kappa Delta.
