With Kelly and Michael"? — Matt Sawyer, Richmond, Calif. A : It's about stamina and schedul- ing. Strahan clearly feels he has the stamina — and the new NFL Hall of Famer's football-playing days probably haven't hurt there — to get up earlier and do that much morning television, and he's being placed in the ABC program early enough so he can leave in time to get to his syndi- cated show job with Kelly Ripa. For someone who wasn't much of a morning show factor until less than two years ago, the times definitely have changed. We're pretty amused by Robin Roberts' take on Strahan's "GMA" arrival: "Our company softball team just got a whole lot better." Q : I like watching "Seinfeld" reruns, but I wonder why the credits never show who played New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner. Why is that, and who played him? — Bill Simpson, Palm Coast, Fla. A : The show's makers clearly got a kick out of creating the illusion that it was Steinbrenner himself, and listing an actor who played him would have spoiled that ... especially since his face was never seen. Lee Bear "played" Steinbrenner's back, and the voice was supplied by none other than Larry David, the series' co-cre- ator, executive producer and frequent writer. Q : I've heard the new season of "Rookie Blue" is starting earli- er in Canada. When do we get it in the United States? — Julie Oliver, Cedarburg, Wis. A : Yes, the show's home country is getting Season 5 sooner — be- ginning this week, in fact — while ABC will start running it June 19. That's actually earlier than American viewers were going to get it; initially, it wasn't slated to begin until mid-July, but some scheduling changes set in motion by the delay of the new series "Astronaut Wives Club" earned the cops of 15 Division an earlier berth. Q : Will the entire first season of "Mad Men" ever be rerun? — Carolyn Bruno, Follansbee, W.Va. A : AMC runs several episodes of what it calls "Classic 'Mad Men' " on Sunday mornings, and if that continues, the cycle should come around again to the Season 1 stories in a few months. That season also is available on such streaming services as Netflix and Hulu Plus, and it can be rented or purchased as a DVD or Blu-ray set. Q : I would like to know if USA Network is going to bring back "Necessary Roughness." — Pearl Besk, Merrimack, N.H. A : It isn't. After three seasons — the last of which made John Stamos a notable cast addition — the game was called on the show last fall, and it was canceled.
