Hundreds of students from throughout the county came to participate in the culminating event of a 10-week program involving all SERRF students. GO FAR stands for Go-Out-For-A-Run. Students built their fitness skills, as well as learned valuable character education lessons embedded in the curriculum. ACHIEVEMENT St ud en ts na me d to t he Dean's List at Simpson UNIVERSITIES REDDING Shasta College announces its 64th Annual Commencement ceremony, which will take place at 7 p.m, Friday, May 23, in the Memorial Stadium. To date, there are 728 ap- plications for diplomas, 161 applications for certificates, and about 467 confirmed participants in the com- mencement ceremony. Dr. Richard Pimentel, a Senior Partner of Milt Write & Associates, Inc. and na- tionally renowned disabil- ity rights activist, will be this year's keynote speaker. The 2007 drama film "Mu- sic Within" chronicles Dr. Pimentel's Vietnam War ex- perience, which drove him to advocate for the passage of the Americans with Dis- abilities Act and and to work against discriminatory hir- ing practices for disabled in- dividuals. COMMENCEMENT Shasta College holds graduation May 23 REDDING Nineteen stu- dents were inducted into the Alpha Chi Honor Society campus chapter at Simpson University, including Amy Haley of Cottonwood, whose major is English, and Julie Spencer of Red Bluff, whose major is Psychology. To qualify for Alpha Chi, a student must receive an in- vitation from a faculty mem- ber and reside in the top 10 percent of juniors, seniors, and graduate students at his or her college or university.
