Atmospheric Sciences w arren Weaver followed in the footsteps of older brothers Clark '38 and Bob by pledging Gamma Tau. He was proud to be and enjoyed being a Delt. "It was a good chapter with high academic standards along with successful intermural results. Most of all it had a great group of guys, many of whom became lifelong friends." Warren left KU during his junior year because of the Korean War. Following service in the Air Force that was mostly spent in Baltimore he returned to Kansas City to join Roddis Lumber, a family wholesale wood products business. In 1968 he went with Commerce Bank in Kansas City. Responsibilities during his banking career of twenty-eight years included President of the Kansas City Bank and Vice Chairman of Commerce Bancshares. Learning how to live and get along with others at the Delt house were an important part of his education and development. Lasting friendships were made with new brothers such as Darrell Deck '52, Charlie Moffett '47, Jerry Maloney '50, Miles Nichols '52 and Bill Rinehart '52 along with his lifetime friend, Bill Curry '51. Those and other relationships made a lasting impression that were and are important to Warren. Warren lives in Prairie Village, Kansas with his wife, Connie. Their two daughters were members of Kappa Alpha Theta, Susan at Arizona State and Carrie at the University of Kansas. They have four grandchildren, Ashley, Jeff, Greg and Doug. Their son-in-law, John Smart, also attended KU. In his retirement Warren is involved in non-profit and for-profit organizations. He also enjoys golf and writing as well as keeping up with friends.
