Pies for Patriots

As American as apple pie is a saying we have heard for years. Pie and ice
cream are an American favorite. Fort Bragg is home to America's
Army. What better way to honor our American Soldiers than with
some free apple pies? Fort Bragg Family, Morale, Welfare, and Rec-
reation welcomes the opportunity to give away free pies to Soldiers
and their Families during the 2nd Annual Pies for Patriots.
Harris Teeter and their customers wanted to say thank you to
the Fort Bragg Soldiers and Families for all they do and all the sac-
rifices they make. They did just that with a very generous, in-kind
contribution of apple pies. With the holidays just around the corner,
the pies are sure to be a hit.
On Saturday, Oct. 3, Fort Bragg FMWR will begin distributing the free apple
pies to Soldiers and their Families at 8 a.m. at the Fort Bragg Fairgrounds. Each
Family will receive a case of pies consisting of six whole nine inch frozen pies. Pies
for Patriots is open to Active Duty and their Families 18 years and older only with
a limit of one case per Family.
The pies will be given away on a first come, first served basis
until all cases have been distributed. No walk – ups will be autho-
rized, everyone must remain in their vehicles for safety reasons. The
pies are frozen so it is advisable they be put in a freezer or cooked as
soon as possible.
Pies for Patriots will return on Saturday, November 7 to distribute
pumpkin pies just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
