Whispers on the Wind
Opens Gilbert Season
a STAFF REPORT
The Gilbert Theater is opening
its season with a little known, but
highly praised musical, Whispers On
the Wind.
Whispers on the Wind, by John
K. Kuntz and Lor Crane, is a whim-
sical coming of
age musical for
the whole family.
It was originally
staged in 1970
in Greenwich
Village, and had
a very short lifes-
pan with 13 pre-
views and nine
performances.
Reminiscent
of The Fantasticks
and Our Town, it is a story of growing
up in the '50s and '60s. It's the story of
a young man from his childhood in a
small town in Ohio through his adult-
hood as he encounters the complex
world of business, love, romance and
marriage in a big city.
The show opens on Thursday,
Sept. 24 and runs through Oct. 11.
Shows are staged every Thursday-
Saturday at 8 p.m. and on Sunday at
2 p.m. Tickets are $12 cash or check
only, at the door. The box office opens
one hour before each performance.
Members of the military and students
receive a
discount on
Thursday per-
formance.
New this
season, the
Gilbert is ask-
ing for dona-
tions only on
opening night.
There is no set
ticket price.
The
Gilbert is located above the Fasci-
nate-U Children's Museum at 116
Green Street, in historic downtown
Fayetteville. For reservations e-mail
gilberttheater@aol.com, or 910-
678-7186.
