Geyer fired a second-round 68 Monday at Wilcox Oaks Golf Club to claim the Les Schwab Tires & Haleakala Ranch Red Bluff Pro- Am championship. The tournament was delayed by the weather for about 30 minutes Monday afternoon, but Geyer was already sitting in the club house having posted a two-day score of 138. Jarrod Warner, who had shared the Day 1 lead with Geyer at 70, shot a 72 Monday and finished at 142. Red Bluff's Steve Deveraux was third with a 71 and 73 for a total of 144. Geyer's 138 was the lowest score in the tournament since 2007, when it was Warner who shot a 135 on his way to the first of back- to-back titles. If it any consolation Warner's Pro-Am team comprising of Rick Dollarhide, John Stoffel, Trent Miller and Dan Dollarhide placed first in its division with a two-day score of 405. Geyer recently graduated from St. Mary's College of California and turned professional in the fall. He said he arrived in Red Bluff Wednesday to play Wilcox Oaks for the first time. He found the conditions wet and then again when he played his Sat- urday practice round and for Sun- day's first round. It wasn't until he went out Mon- day that he felt he was playing a dry course, and he said that actu- ally made the course play tougher for him. Geyer, who is from Arbuckle, said he had heard about the course's difficulty and took what he could get on the Back 9, finish- ing 1-under on those holes over the tournament. He credited a 20-foot putt he made on 16 to begin a strong fin- ish and cap his tournament win. Geyer is fourth on the eGolf Tour West money list and has seen some recent tournament success, while the weekend in Red Bluff may not have brought the same pressure, it brought about the same types of feelings. "Winning something is always fun," Geyer said.
