Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi 3 o micron's fall and spring semesters have been very productive and successful. We initiated 80 wonderful New Members from the fall 2013 pledge class. These women have already proven to be strong leaders both in the chapter and in the Mizzou community. This past fall, we participated in Homecoming and were paired with the gentlemen of Sigma Pi and Tau Kappa Epsilon. We also hosted a very successful Dad's Weekend and Alumnae Weekend. It was great to see the members interact with the alumnae who were able to join us. In January, with the help of our wonderful house corporation board, Omicron alumna Mary Gordon Achor '64 became House Director. The members are very pleased to have a sister in this important role. Omicron just finished recruiting the spring 2014 pledge class. I can already see promise in this group of 23 women and look forward to seeing how they will become involved in the chapter. Sisters involved in philanthropy We recently participated in the Greek-wide fundraiser RAMS, which is an acronym for Rockin' Against Multiple Sclerosis. Sisters had the opportunity to participate in a trivia night at Harpo's, as well as compete in a lip syncing contest and bowling tournament. We also served members of the Columbia community who have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. This year, Alpha Phi won third place in the campus- wide event. We spent the month of February preparing for our annual philanthropy, the Rockin' Red Dress Poker Tournament. Michelle Kramer '11, Director of Philanthropy, did an excellent job overseeing all aspects of our annual tournament and auction. We held the event at the Reynolds Alumni Center on campus and hope to use this venue for future philanthropy events. On behalf of the members, I want to extend tremendous gratitude for the alumnae and parents who attended this event, donated auction items, or made a donation to the Alpha Phi Foundation. Your donations to the auction and cash contributions to the Alpha Phi Foundation made the entire effort worthwhile. Omicron's next event is Greek Week. The women are excited to work with the gentlemen of Phi Kappa Theta. We are happy to have Kristen Paquette '12 represent Omicron on the steering committee for Greek Week. In addition, we are paired with our neighbors, Chi Omega, as our Panhellenic sister sorority. We look forward to uniting our two sisterhoods during the months ahead. The Executive Council plans to increase opportunities for our members to participate in philanthropic events. The chapter continues to volunteer at the local food bank, and we have reached out to the Boys and Girls Club. Alumnae help Chapter Succeed Thank you to all of our loyal alumnae for supporting Omicron. Because of you, the chapter is thriving, our home is beautiful and inviting, and Omicron continues its strong support of the Alpha Phi Foundation. Very Truly Yours, Shelby L. Fuchs '11 Chapter President slfng4@mail.missouri.edu omicron Wraps up Successful fall Busy Spring Underway This year, Alpha Phi placed third in Rocking Against Multiple Sclerosis (RAMS), an annual Greek fundraising competition, which raised $65,000 for multiple sclerosis. Omicron is particularly proud of Vanessa Hays '10 (fifth to the right of the check) who was selected to serve on the RAMS steering committee. Sisters had fun at the Omicron's annual Rockin' Red Dress Poker Tournament. From left, Anna Howser, Ashlie Bryant, Rachel Burke, Rachel Ahlemeier, Clare Hanks, and Kathleen Oglesby (all '12).
