He enjoyed a long and successful career as a CPA, becoming a partner with Wade Barton & Marsh in 1965 and forming Gibson Johnson & Co. with his good friend Morris Johnson in 1972. In the mid-1980s he went into partnership with CPA Frank Melvin until retiring in 1992. Frank was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, and served as president of West Austin Rotary club and as treasurer on the board of KMFA radio station for 20 years. He loved music and had a rich tenor voice, frequently used to sing for worship service. Frank was a talker, but he was a listener too with a genuine interest in people. He lived his life with integrity, honesty and faith. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Susan McBride Gibson, daughters Julie Lawhon and husband, Steve, Terri Gibson, and Jane Gibson; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. roger v. Chenault '55 entered Chapter Eternal on January 31, 2013. At the time of his death, he was a resident of Santo, Texas. A graduate of Houston's Lamar High School and the University of Texas, where he majored in chemical engineering, Roger enjoyed traveling the world with his loving wife of 45 years, Phyllis, and living abroad for work. He taught bible classes in the U.S. and Kuwait and was a member of Houston's Berachah Church. Roger is survived by his daughter, Stephanie, sister, Barbara, and niece, Yvonne. A s all Pikes know, the order was founded on March 1, 1868, at the University of Virginia and all chapters are encouraged to mark this special day. For 2014, the men of Beta Mu hosted a Founder's Day dinner, welcoming alumni from across the state for an extended social hour and enjoyable barbecue buffet at 2400 Leon Street. Internal Vice President Casey Beauchamp '09 and External Vice President william Brown '09 welcomed alumni and provided an update on the strong state of the chapter. In the spirit of the evening, alumni and actives joined to recite the fraternity's Preamble. Alumni and their wives were introduced and the seven spring pledges were also introduced and welcomed into the fold. On behalf of the alumni assembled, Alumni Advisory Board Chairman russ Keene '80 thanked the actives for the reception and dinner noting the chapter's solid membership numbers, quality of young men and top academics. Beta Mu's 2014 Founder's Day was dedicated to the memory of recently departed brothers harry gump '40, mark owens '80 and david reed '68. Founder's Day attendees included a number of loyal Austin alumni such as Cinco Cocke '80, Bert dement '66, mickey elliott '47, mike elliott '76 and Paul swope '80. Out-of-towners included Jenn and J.P. sordellia '94 from Victoria, mac tichenor '74 and Jeff hinson '74, both of Dallas, tucker graves '78 of Houston, vance arnold '64 of San Antonio and Karen and don hairston '64 from Florida. founder's day 2014 Bridges initiates from 1940s to 2000s in austin pikes host anotheR successful texas Round up weekend R ound Up Weekend has traditionally been a highlight of the U.T. spring semester for students and campus visitors alike. As in years past, many fraternities host large lawn or street parties to welcome their dates, friends and guests to the festive weekend of gatherings. For several years now, Pike has hosted one of the larger day parties during Round Up, featuring several emerging country and western bands and providing party-goers with a Louisiana Crawfish Boil lunch. Held on March 21 and 22, the 2014 Pike Round Up began Friday evening with a rave party at the house with entertainment provided by the popular DJ CrowdPleazers. Saturday's outdoor lawn party attracted more than 900 guests. The lawn party entertainment was Curtis Grimes followed by main act The Casey Donahew Band. Nick Boden '12 and Michael Webb '12 welcomed Mac Tichenor '74 to the Founder's Day barbecue.
