EntrE nous 2 Chapter Keeps Life Exciting T he Cal Gamma Chapter of Pi Beta Phi has had a great spring semester. All of our members settled into classes and normal schedules after a relaxing winter break. Many of our members have even managed to land amazing internships for the spring and summer at a wide range of esteemed companies. Social Events With many members of the Chapter studying abroad and experiencing the adventures that travel has to offer, we try and keep life here in Southern California exciting. We had our first invite of the year, Beaux and Arrows, and many sisterhood events around L.A. from Flywheel to Top Shop. In the beginning of the year, we hosted our annual family events, including a mother-daughter tea and a father-daughter outing to the USC vs. UCLA basketball game, where the girls and their families had an amazing time getting in the Trojan Pi Phi spirit! This semester we also have our scholarship dinner, where girls bring their professors to dinner in order to celebrate their academic accomplishments, senior week, and our final invite, My Tie, where we recognize our graduating seniors of the class of 2014. We recently had a wonderful alumna, Donna Sones Ethington, Iowa Gamma '47, over for dinner to celebrate her 86th birthday. It was such an incredible experience for the girls to hear stories of her college years and experience the life long bond of sisterhood! Philanthropy Cal Gamma also participated in Pi Beta Phi's Fraternity Day of Service in Long Beach, where we helped set up and pass out 25,000 books to well-deserving children in the area. While there, we had the honor of meeting and working with Grand President Paula Pace Shepherd, an experience we will all cherish for a long time! This semester we hope to have alumnae attend many of our upcoming events, including weekly Monday night dinners and our annual Pi Social where we raise money for the Los Angeles reading to Kids in order to promote literacy in the community. With all of the exiting events and the summer around the corner, we are all looking forward to carrying on the Pi Phi legacy!
