Nolan Arenado, Wilin Rosario and Corey Dickerson also homered for the Rockies, who've won four of the last five. It was Blackmon's first multihomer game of his career. De La Rosa (1-3) rediscovered his rhythm, allowing five hits and one run for his first victory of the season. The hard-throwing lefty tied a career high with 16 wins last season. Ryan Vogelsong (0-1) never got on track and was pulled after 1 1-3 innings, his shortest start with the Giants. He surrendered five runs and six hits, including three hom - ers. Blackmon lined solo homers in the second and eighth innings. He's now hitting .411 this season. Arenado, who was moved up to the No. 2 spot in the order, ex - tended his hitting streak to a ca- reer-high 12 games. De La Rosa was on the same page with Rosario all night, some- thing that wasn't the case during the season opener in Miami when the battery mates couldn't get their signals straight. Backup catcher Jordan Pacheco has been behind the plate for De La Rosa's last three starts. But manager Walt Weiss didn't want to create a situation where De La Rosa had a personal catcher, so he went with Rosario, who actu - ally had a calming influence on the sometimes excitable De La Rosa. In the third inning, Rosario sauntered out to the mound to briefly chat with De La Rosa after he loaded the bases with no outs. Whatever Rosario said worked as Buster Posey hit into a 6-4-3 double play — bringing in a run — and Mi - chael Morse flew out to left. The catcher nicknamed "Baby Bull" also helped his pitcher out at the plate, too, lining a three-run homer. It's his third homer of the season. The annual spectacle that at- tracts the world's top rodeo ath- letes, and thousands of fans, con- cluded Sunday at the Tehama District Fairground after a final performance that left a few with championships and most riding on to the next rodeo. In bareback riding, Kaycee Feild of Payson, Utah tallied an 88 and a Round-Up win. Feild has been the Pro Ro - deo Cowboys Association world champion for the past three years, according to a news re- lease from the Round-Up, and is ranked second in bareback rid- ing. "I just have to not necessarily forget about my past and my ac- complishments, but you have to put them to the side and go at it every year like it's your first year, like you're craving it and you want it," Feild said in the release. At age 27 with a wife and young daughter, competing in a far-off rodeo has taken on a dif - ferent meaning, Feild said in the release. "At 3:30 this morning, I go to say goodbye, and she's sleeping, and you leave the house to get to a rodeo with a whole differ - ent meaning than it used to have when I was a young punk," he said in the release. Feild added, however, that com - peting in Red Bluff provided a change in scenery compared to the rodeos he's competed in already. "We've been (competing) in - doors all winter long, and this is the first (big) rodeo outdoors, and we get on the best stock here," he said. "It changes your whole atti - tude. It's just an honor to be here and win this rodeo. It's a special rodeo to win." In bull riding, which pits man versus beast for eight seconds at a time, Dylan Vick of Escalon rode the bull named Buckmas - ter for a total of 87 points and a Round-Up championship. Vick met Buckmaster before. In fact, according to the release, Buckmaster bucked Vick off at the California Circuit Finals Ro - deo last year. "He started to the left, went back to the right, and when he went to the right last time (at the circuit finals), he bucked me off." Vick said in the release. "This time, I didn't get too comfort - able either way. I just kept riding like I didn't know what was going to happen, which is how you're supposed to ride." round-uP Rodeo championships A recent batch of government and business reports show a U.S. economy emerging from winter's deep freeze. eConoMy Warmer temps li economic growth FULL STORY ON PAGE B3 Top: Ryan MacKenzie of Jordan Valley, Ore., earns a score of 78 in saddle bronc riding during the final performance of the 93rd annual Red Bluff Round-Up at the Tehama District Fairground on Sunday.
