T The 2013-14 school year has flown by. The collegians have been actively engaged in academics, campus and Greek activities, and chapter events. Our House Corporation has been impressed with their many accomplishments, and has welcomed opportunities to work with them in several areas, including technology updates and general household organization. We are looking forward to a summer packed with projects and literally, housework. We have spent time prioritizing tasks to complete projects in time for the 100th anniversary celebration planned for next April. Have you marked your calendar for April 17-19, 2015? Painting the first floor of the east wing, renovating several storage areas, addressing composite preservation and storage, along with the usual summer routines and surprises will provide us with plenty to do. The resignation of our chapter advisor due to an employment transfer has left a void, and we continue to search for the next special individual who will share a special bond with an exceptional group of young ladies. Change can be a challenge, but those of us closely involved with Theta Iota are optimistic that this experience will be one that makes our chapter even stronger. We continue to look to our vast alumnae for support and assistance, and ask that those of you who reside in the Manhattan area consider thoughtfully whether you could fulfill such an important role for Theta Iota. The updating of our lovely dining room has begun with the refinishing of our dining room furniture, thanks to gifts from a number of alumnae. Currently the tables and chairs are being refinished, and the chair seats will later be reupholstered; we hope that this project will be completed by next April for the 100th anniversary celebration. Cost for the furniture update is nearly $10,000. Presently we have several other projects for the room which are still in the planning stage. The dining room remains a central area of chapter activity at the house and is a room where many Delta memories were made. Do you recall a senior dinner, pinning or engagement, enjoying a piece of Delta cream pie, or singing after dinner in the dining room? The preservation of these furnishings will only be advanced with your help. A gift of $100 will allow for the total refinishing/upholstering of one chair, which will serve the chapter for many years to come. Imagine: if each member of just three or four pledge classes would contribute enough for a single chair, this project could be completed in short order and grand style. What a great way to commemorate your days at the Chapter House and express your devotion to Theta Iota. On behalf of all Theta Iota Tri Deltas, your contribution is greatly appreciated. Checks may be made to Theta Iota House Corporation and mailed to 1228 Westloop Place, Box 168, Manhattan, Kansas, 66502, using the enclosed form and envelope. We welcome your gifts and also your presence. Feel free to stop by the house anytime and ask any collegiate member for a house tour. T The transitional years following WWII brought new energy to the Kansas State campus with an influx of students to Manhattan. This expanded to the Greek community as well. Life was good at Theta Iota: a beautiful custom-built house, highly successful recruitment weeks pledging an average of 25 new members, and a fine reputation on campus and in the community. In the early 1950s the ladies of Theta Iota were regularly winning various academic awards, thriving in campus events, and were represented royally by members nominated or crowned for Barn Warmer Queen, Homecoming Queen, Royal Purple Queen, Intrafraternity Pledge Council Queen, Military Ball Queen, Centennial Pageant Queen, Miss K-State, and College Queen. Additionally, nearly every campus organization boasted members from Tri Delta. Romance was often a highlight at Theta Iota formal dinners.
