S P R I N G 2 0 1 4 | NORTH BAY WOMAN 29 4. If you have a friend or relative that has an outdated look, what is the best approach to help update their style? Remember that style is very personal. What you think about how another person dresses is really none of your business. However, you can listen for clues. If they tell you they love something you are wearing let them borrow it. If they mention they hate shopping offer to go with them or go for them. The best time to get someone to think about updating their style is when they have an event to attend. Offer to help them get ready for it. 5. Is Bling appropriate for day time? Yes, I think bling is always ok, however that being said, you never what it to overshadow you. A great statement necklace is perfect if you keep the rest simple. 6. What is the best way to "Spring Clean" your closet and decide what to toss and what to keep? Ask yourself how this item of clothing makes you feel. If it does not make you happy, sexy or confident it is time to let it go. If something is your favorite but it is just worn out then start the hunt for it's replacement. Never keep clothes in your closet that you hate because they cost a lot of money. All you are doing is reminding yourself of money poorly spent. 7. Are there guidelines on dressing appropriately for the office? My rules are really simple. Look around. What is your boss wearing? And what is your boss's boss wearing? That will give you an idea of what is appropriate for the office and then you can style yourself accordingly. I have seen people passed over for jobs simply based on how their appearance is perceived. Dressing appropri- ately at work and doing the best job you can will help get you noticed. 8. If you could buy only one accessory for spring, what would it be? A great oxford shoe. Let's talk style, bling and everything for spring Bling is always ok, especially when it's a necklace from Ann Taylor Loft that intertwines gold ribbon wrapped chains with cast stone medallions. At right, the Calvin Klein oxford.
