The North Bay is blessed not only with incredible vineyards and
wineries, but also with some of the world's top winemaking talent.
Increasingly, that talent belongs to women. While only about 10% of
the state's head winemakers are female, the number has grown since
the 1970s from just a handful to hundreds.
What's even more impressive is the quality of wines they're
making – and that's not a recent phenomenon. For decades,
women have been producing some of the North Coast's most
impressive and admired wines.
Here are five delicious examples, made by six remarkable women.
