initiation G reetings from the active chapter of FarmHouse in Lincoln. I hope this update finds you in good health and spirits. As we dive into 2014, I would like to give you an update on how the chapter has been doing over the past year. We have been working hard and growing as men in the areas of academics, service, faith, and athletics. excelling academically In the past three semesters, FarmHouse has stayed in the top four fraternities academically, including first place in the fall of 2012. Our chapter GPAs for the past three semesters have averaged 3.427, which continues to be well above the Greek and all-campus averages. Scholarship Chairman Ben Eilerts '12 said, "We are always striving to improve on past semesters. In order to further boost our GPA, we have put an academic improvement plan in place, which includes an in-house tutor program, mid-semester checks and goal sheets for members." Philanthropic involvement on the rise Philanthropically, we hosted Raising the Roof with Alpha Chi Omega to raise money for The Friendship Home, Festah Italiana with Tri Delta to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and Backpack in Black and Rake and Bake to assist our neighbors. Overall, we raised more than $19,000, served 4,000 hours last year, and have goals to surpass both of these numbers in the coming year by incorporating an additional event to aid our international philanthropic organizations. initiation a success On January 26, 22 pledges were initiated into our membership during our initiation ritual at Westminster Presbyterian Church and we also added five semester pledges. Recruitment Supervisor Aksel Wiseman '13 shared, "The recruitment team has big plans for this summer and is going to be bringing in the best and brightest for next year's pledge class. All of us are excited for the opportunity and hope to continue to grow FarmHouse and keep us at the top of the Greek system." Leaders set Goals The executive committee has attended international FarmHouse confer- ences. Four members attended the FarmHouse Leadership Institute, three members attended a new recruitment conference called FarmHouse Grows, and I attended To Be and Become, FarmHouse's conference for emerging leaders. Many goals have been set and we are working to bring our frater- nity to excellence. We also look forward to a strong showing at Conclave this summer. Through brotherhood events like a camping trip, basketball tournaments, and new and innovative ideas for summer recruitment, we will grow as brothers and as a fraternity. I would like to thank all alumni for your support of the chapter and encourage you to participate in alumni events such as banquets, barbecues, and golf tournaments that are being planned for the coming year. Finally, I invite you to stop by the house, share your memories, and see the great things that are happening at FarmHouse.
