We started 2014 with our executive board retreat, where we planned major dates for the semester and set chapter goals. We set out to increase our total money raised for Dance Marathon this year to $70,000, which benefits Children's Miracle Network. Another goal we set was to ensure that every member is seeking involvement outside of Alpha Chi. The purpose of this is to ensure that we are fostering the development of strong leaders not only within our chapter, but also on and off campus. A third goal we have set is to build stronger relations with other Panhellenic chapters by attending and hosting monthly events. We've hosted two events thus far: a movie night with Alpha Omicron Pi and a kickboxing class with Alpha Epsilon Phi. The kickboxing class was even taught by one of our own sisters, Courtney Howard '10, in our chapter room. We are thrilled to announce that we welcomed 12 beautiful new members this semester, who were initiated on March 14. We could not be more excited to welcome them into our bond! Additionally, we have reached our goal from last semester by raising our chapter cumulative GPA to a 3.43. We reorganized our intellectual development plan last year in an effort to push all chapter members to strive for academic success, so we are very proud of this increase! We celebrated MacDowell month by hosting a painting party where we had artists come in and teach sisters how to create their own canvas paintings. Also during this month, we started our very own Alpha Chi book club where sisters have chosen literary works to discuss at monthly gatherings. We also participated in Project Makeover, where we painted murals all over the white walls of a local elementary school to brighten up the campus for the students. On behalf of the executive board, and the women of Gamma Iota, thank you for all of your support and continued dedication to the success of our chapter. From your encouragement, we will grow into real, strong women and pass this on to the future of our community.
