If that doesn't set well with you, then stop reading and enjoy the spring blooms, dying eggs, jellybeans and Easter bunny tales that spring time brings. According to legend, the tree's wood was strong and sturdy and hence was used for building material to include the cross on which Jesus was crucified. Even the petals of the dogwood form the shape of a cross and produce blooms to serve as a reminder of life, each spring, near Easter. Some surmise that the tips of the flowers have indentions that symbolize the nails and that the colors on the petals are reminiscent of drops of blood – the pink stains on the white blooms. Enjoy our annual Dogwood Issue packed with great stories, photos and all things local. I lost count how many issues of CityView I've penned now, but I know for certain this is the first Dogwood issue in four years to feature another art medium on the cover. anks to the talented, local artist Shari Link for her beautiful acrylic Dogwood bloom painting. As I am writing this on a rainy, dreary mid-March aer- noon, I am hoping that March showers bring April Dogwood flowers! e Dogwood Festival is one of the most exciting times of the year in Fayetteville. e festival features national, regional and local talent like crowd favorite Ethan Hanson who at only 23-years-old is blazing the musical trail in Fayetteville. Truly the annual event has something for everyone and it's all outlined in our feature story. In this issue, learn how steel master David McCune fashions metal into unique and almost futuristic looking works of art. Also, be introduced to our new mayor, Nat Robertson and the first lady of Fayetteville (and elementary school principal of the year), his wife Kim. Mayor Robertson is a huge fan of something we love at CityView and in our Dogwood issue…food trucks. I am looking forward to April because of CEED's Dancing with the Fay- etteville Stars on the 12th! I am partnered with Kirk Blue of Blue Moon Cafe and we are excited about helping raise money for one of the city's greatest causes. As always, look for the CityView booth at the Dogwood Festival this year. We love meeting our readers! 32nd Annual Dogwood Festival
