Dear Alumni of Sigma Chi, In the 34 years I have worked with fraternities and sororities at the University of Michigan, I am sure I have interacted with many of you. I am happy to report that Greek Life is thriving at Michigan, with membership in fall 2013 at an all-time high of over 5,400 students. Beyond numbers, however, is a community dedicated to academic success, human dignity, responsible behavior, service and philanthropy, accountability, integrity, lifelong commitment, and alignment with the mission of the University of Michigan. To that end, a new strategic plan was completed in fall of 2012. In order to ensure that the goals of the plan were met and hopefully exceeded, chapter achievement expectations were established and implemented as of fall 2013. These expectations highlight the many accomplishments of our fraternities and sororities and will challenge them to continue to excel. Sigma Chi's long history and many contributions to the University and Greek Life have been significant since its founding in 1877. Members have been leaders on campus and in the Greek community, have achieved academic excellence (currently a 3.426 chapter GPA), have served the community, and have experienced a strong bond of brotherhood that has endured. The chapter has been a credit to the national organization and a source of pride to the University of Michigan. The celebration of the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the Sigma Chi chapter house is an amazing milestone for the fraternity. As with other historic facilities, maintaining the safety and physical appearance of the house and upgrading it with features that college men need and expect can be challenging and costly. This current capital campaign is critical to ensuring a house that not only meets the needs of both the collegians and alumni, but also represents the stature of your distinguished organization. I urge you to invest in the future of Sigma Chi at Michigan by contributing to the campaign. The University of Michigan believes in the promise of its students, and you can help make their experience the best possible. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Mary Beth Seiler Director of Greek Life universitY of Michigan Theta Theta Chapter of Sigma Chi
