Our Urgent Need
W
hile the Delta Gamma experience is certainly more than the physical
structure of the Chapter house, our home undoubtedly plays a
significant role in the development of our sisters and is a proud symbol of our
shared values and goals.
Built in 1966, 305 S. Summit Street has been a part of Tau's legacy for 47
years and is showing its age. It has become clear that we must make a major
investment in our Chapter house if we are to remain competitive and provide
a quality living and learning environment.
Remaining Competitive at the University of Iowa
Today's students and parents expect more for their housing dollars than ever
before. We must now compete with the amenities offered in newly renovated
on-campus residence halls, off-campus apartments, and other sororities
on campus. The amenities, coupled with more space and privacy, pull our
members away from the Chapter house. Now it is time to update our historic
home and ensure we are drawing high-quality new members into the Delta
Gamma experience.
Ensuring Excellence
Our Delta Gamma home has always been an environment that fosters
academic excellence; however, study space and academic needs have
changed. To remain academically competitive, we must address the needs
of today's students by updating the study room and providing a more useful
space for our undergraduate women. An upgraded study room, as well as
updated bedrooms and common spaces, will help ensure that Tau remains the
scholastic leader on the University of Iowa campus.
"You have to keep up your home, and these
women need it to be successful in rush and
other sorority activities."
