TheTa Chi page 3 T he fall of 2013 served as a monumental semester in our Chapter's history. In an effort to welcome this new era, the undergraduate Chapter has worked tirelessly to maintain and improve upon brotherhood, so as not to be overwhelmed by the addition of a new Chapter House. That being said, we welcomed 37 new brothers into our ranks. We are extremely proud and optimistic about the potential these brothers bring to the Chapter. The semester kicked off with the most successful edition of our annual philanthropy, which stands as a testament to the strength built in the bonds of brotherhood. The eighth annual Kyle Schuemann '01 Memorial Kickball Tournament raised over $3,000, a landmark figure for this event. The success of this event was not only felt by the Be Responsible About Drinking 21 organization, the philanthropy's benefactor, but really worked to unify the brothers in our return to life as an on-campus chapter. academic excellence At the beginning of the fall semester, brothers were met with the challenge of setting the academic standard for fraternity gentlemen at the University of Florida. This challenge was met with the Chapter achieving the 6th highest semester GPA out of the 25 recognized IFC chapters. The Chapter is proud to stand behind this achievement and hopes to increase it. Campus presence Historically, Tau has done incredibly well in maintaining our extracurricular standing at the University of Florida. The fall of 2013 was no different as we saw three brothers initiated into the prestigious Florida Blue Key organization. This is a high honor and the Chapter has done the best it can to recognize brothers Josh Jacobs '10, Griffin Tillis '11, and Josh Pittell '11 for their outstanding contributions to the University. In addition, several brothers established themselves as significant contributors in organizations around campus: Dan Levine '10 holds the position of Student Government productions chairman, Joseph Michaels '11 now works as senate pro tempore for Student Government, and Kyle Rodriguez '11 holds the position of assistant supervisor of elections for Student Government, just to name a few. Theta Chi also had a strong presence in Gator Growl, holding six director positions as well as numerous assistant directorships. We are extremely pleased with our accomplishments as leaders on this campus and hope to see our presence improve in the future.
