By Joseph Shufelberger Chico Enterprise-Record @JShufelberger on Twitter ORLAND » Orland High senior Yaneth Munoz is the top re- turning 100-meter sprinter in the Northern Section, making her the favorite heading into track and field season. "I'm not going to say I am," Munoz said. Even if she won't, Munoz's times do. Munoz set personal records for hand times in the 100 and 200 and anchored a winning 400 relay as well, all part of a standout Wednesday perfor - mance as the Trojans hosted Corning and Willows in a three- team meet to prep for the up- coming spring season that by- passed team scoring to focus on individuals. Munoz won the 100 in 12.55 seconds, even bettering the 12.66 she ran at the section fi - nals at West Valley last year that left her third behind now graduated Lily Brose of Red Bluff and Foothill's Hailey Jack - son, who tied for first in 12.48. On Wednesday, Munoz's clos- est competition were her team- mates. Gelsey Quiroz was sec- ond in the 100 in 12.84. With Quiroz also turning in 12-second times, the Tro- jans' 400 relay seemed set for a good day. By Josh Dubow The Associated Press ALAMEDA » Safety Charles Wood- son agreed to a one-year deal to ex- tend his second stint with the Oak- land Raiders to a second season. Woodson was flying to the Bay Area on Thursday and was expected to officially sign the deal today, ac - cording to his agent, Carl Poston. ESPN first reported the deal. Woodson, 37, came back to his original NFL team last season af - ter spending the previous seven years with Green Bay, much to the delight of his legion of fans who hoped his return would help res - urrect a struggling franchise. While Woodson was able to start all 16 games a year after miss- ing nine because of injury in Green Bay and he brought the leadership Oakland was seeking, he was un- able to improve the results on the field as the Raiders went 4-12 for a second straight year. That extended their run of sea - sons without a winning record or playoff berth to 11, starting late in Woodson's first stint in Oakland. Woodson had 75 solo tackles, one interception, two sacks, three passes defensed, three forced fum - bles and two fumble recoveries. He returned one fumble for his 13th career defensive touchdown, ty- ing the NFL record held by Dar- ren Sharper and Rod Woodson. He also extended his streak of seasons with an interception to 16, tied for second best in NFL history to Darrell Green's 19. Woodson expressed interest af - ter the season in returning and the Raiders also wanted him back, leading to another one-year deal. The Raiders have placed a pri - ority on signing players with a winning pedigree this offseason. Woodson joins new defensive line- men Justin Tuck and LaMarr Woodley and returning safety Us- ama Young as Raiders with Super Bowl titles in their career. New cor- nerback Tarell Brown and defen- sive lineman Antonio Smith have played in Super Bowls previously. AP Sports Writer Janie McCauley contributed to this report.
