The FlaTiron campus. This improvement was influenced heavily by an increase of study tables and available resources. On top of basic, classroom learning, we hosted resume workshops and other professional development clinics. At the end of February, we sent eight members to the Carlson Leadership Academy in Newport Beach, California, on scholarships. A special thanks to brother Kent Hickman '61 for his generous support that made our attendance at CLA possible. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Our most notable philanthropic event last year was helping families rebuild their properties after Boulder's flood. It was remarkable to see the effects on families and our impact with volunteering a few valuable hours to the cause. Aside from community service like this and Greek Hill cleanups, we are proposing a philanthropy for Greek Week. Our vice president is talking with IBM, March of Dimes, and the Interfraternity Council to set sights on maximizing the money collected for the cause. MEMBER RECRUITMENT The past few years have been great for recruitment, with on average 25 men joining each fall and around 10 each spring. We focus on being selective in our interview and application process. Some new selling points are the large backyard and award- winning chef. We are in the early stages of developing an Epsilon Challenge that will lead to the Brother Mentor Ritual. Vice President of Recruitment Marc Simpson '16 said, "These past two classes of men have proven to be strong leaders in the classroom, as well as out. They demonstrate the epitome of what it means to be a SigEp and impressed our Chapter during recruitment." SOCIAL EVENTS Along with mixers and social functions with sororities, we have been Homecoming partners with Chi Omega and Greek Week partners with Gamma Phi Beta in the past year. Though we did not win either of the titles, they were good experiences with good participation from all chapters. We also had a laser tag mixer with Alpha Chi Omega, an Olympics game night with Kappa Kappa Gamma, and formal in Beaver Creek in November 2013. ALUMNI AND PARENTS We hosted a parents barbecue for the Buffs football family weekend. It was a fantastic time, and we were fortunate enough to have perfect weather to be outside. It was fun to meet everyone's parents and enjoy relaxing in our new backyard. The day was filled with games, football, and our AVC dedication of the new wall. We are thankful for all who were able to come and expect the event to grow in the future. INTRAMURAL PARTICIPATION We love sports. This is evident with our five intramural teams in a broad range of sports. Last fall, we won the roller hockey tournament and have switched to ice hockey this spring. This is such a popular sport that we moved Chapter meetings to Tuesday nights to accommodate the 15 people on the team. We also have two basketball teams, one in the intermediate league and one recreational team, and a flag football team that has regularly won championships. This translates to Buff Bowl and Greek Week football, as we are usually a top-five finisher in all-fraternity football events. Chad Boersma '15, sound body coordinator, said, "Our participation has helped us learn how to work as a team to accomplish a goal in smaller groups and created closer relationships as brothers." We are proud of our progress and are promoting the SigEp brand in a positive manner. I want to thank our alumni; without you, we would not be in the position that we now are. We always love to see alumni around the Chapter House and hear your SigEp stories.
