allowed me to travel. The thrill of doing business in Shanghai one day, Tokyo the next, and then Cleveland on the third gave me memories that I value as much, or more than, money," Dennis said. His career advice to undergraduates or men early in their careers is to find a job that they enjoy, and not be driven by money. "If you find a job that you like, you will most likely be good at it, and then the money will follow." Dennis is now retired, but he is the former executive vice president of DuPont, chairman and CEO of Praxair, former board member of H.J. Heinz, and chairman of the board for Marathon Oil Company. He currently serves on the board for Dow Chemical Company and Covidien. Dennis has stayed involved with Sigma Chi since graduation and it is a big part of his life. He has hosted reunions twice in the last five years for the 1974-76 pledge classes, where 50 brothers attended. Dennis believes it is important for alumni to stay involved with the Chapter. "When I was an undergraduate I was afforded opportunities from alumni. Now it is our turn to give back to the organization." Dennis and his wife, Cindy, spilt their time between Oklahoma City, and Naples, Florida. They have two sons, Jason and Michael, who were involved in Greek life at Clemson, two daughters-in-law, Carrie and May, and one granddaughter, Catherine. In February, Dennis was inducted into the Oklahoma State University Hall of Fame. It is the highest honor bestowed by the university. The award recognizes outstanding lifetime achievement in society and professional life.
