Sigma Chi Fraternity • OklahOma State UniverSity • Spring 2014 Inside • Chapter Looks Toward Future ~ p. 2 • Welcome, New Initiates ~ p. 3 • 41st Golf Classic ~ p. 4 The Sig Scroll T he fall semester was a good one at Gamma Delta, and the Chapter is on the right path this spring. We are especially proud of the Chapter for registering another solid semester academically with a collective GPA over 3.0, and Homecoming activities that included building a house for Habitat for Humanity in Stillwater. I'm happy to report that we continue to build momentum in the number of alumni that are actively involved on the board and in advisory positions for the Chapter. This creates a more efficient operational structure for the board and undergraduate Chapter, and, more importantly, puts more alumni in the position to mentor the active brothers. We are always looking for more alumni that are willing to give their time and assist with various areas of the Chapter's operation. If you have an interest, please e-mail me. We will get you plugged in! Finally, I hope you make plans to attend the annual Sigma Chi Golf Classic this summer. It is a great weekend to enjoy friendships, play some golf, and catch up with what is happening at OSU and Gamma Delta. He was rushed by five or six fraternities, but it was the Sigma Chis who caught his attention. Dennis knew men in the Chapter whom he admired. His undergraduate experience taught him a great deal, and he has many cherished memories. "I think of us as pledges coming back to the house on Friday nights from dates and cleaning the house in the wee hours of the night. It wasn't hard work, and I look back at it fondly," Dennis laughed. "Living with 70 to 80 men gave me an opportunity to learn beyond academics. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. The camaraderie with the brothers meant a great deal. "When I was on campus with 18,000 students, it was great to go back to the house where I was close with so many brothers. My experience taught me about people. Part of being in a Fraternity is to be accepted by people with different thoughts and backgrounds. It teaches you how to learn from and interact with all sorts of different people in life. It also taught me a lot about how to develop a winning team attitude in business," Dennis said. "Any of those thoughts that I have now were made in the Fraternity years ago." After graduation, Dennis was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work and live around the world.
