By Samantha Henry The Associated Press ROSELAND, N.J. » The New Jersey honor student who sued to get her parents to support her after she moved out of their home has re - united with them, and the family is now asking for pri- vacy. Rachel Canning's return does not involve any finan- cial or other considerations, the lawyer for the 18-year- old's parents said Wednes- day. Angelo Sarno said that the dispute had been settled "amicably," but refused to comment further on the lit - igation. Sarno said Rachel Can- ning moved back in with her parents on Tuesday night and said the notoriety sur- rounding the suit had dam- aged the family. "This is a matter that should have been brought in some counselor's of - fice, not into a courtroom," Sarno said. "There's a long road ahead, this is not some- thing that's going to happen overnight. The point of this process? The healing needs to begin." A judge last week had de - nied the teen's request for child support and to have her parents pay her re- maining high school tuition. But the judge scheduled an April court date to consider the over-arching question of whether the Cannings are obligated to financially sup - port their adult daughter. Canning had left her par- ents' house on Oct. 30, two days before she turned 18 after a tumultuous stretch during which her parents separated and reconciled and the teen began getting into trouble at school. In court filings, Can - ning's parents, Sean Can- ning and his wife, Elizabeth, said their daughter volun- tarily left home because she didn't want to abide by rea- sonable household rules. NEw JERSEy Honor student who sued parents for support returns to home By Jason Keyser The Associated Press TOLEDO, OHiO » Pileups on the Ohio Turnpike involving at least 50 vehicles killed three people and seriously injured a state trooper on Wednesday as a late-winter storm swept through the Midwest and the Northeast, ending a fleeting spring-like thaw. Emergency workers on the busy toll road strug - gled to reach accidents and stuck vehicles because of snowy conditions and traffic backups. Pileups stretched across a 2-mile section in the eastbound lanes of the turn - pike between Toledo and Cleveland. Another series of pileups about 10 miles to the east shut down the turn- pike's westbound lanes near Sandusky. Drivers sat for hours, a few braving the cold to stretch their legs, said Mike Ramella, a salesman from the Cleveland suburb of Westlake. "I'm just sending emails, still working," said Ramella, who was in the middle of a 7-mile backup. A trooper responding to an accident was pinned be - tween vehicles, said the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which confirmed the deaths of the three other people but didn't immediately have fur - ther details. One vehicle lane opened about four hours af- ter the first accident. Trooper Andrew Clouser, 29, was in serious but stable condition at a Toledo hospi - tal Wednesday night, said Ohio patrol Staff Lt. Anne Ralston. Across the region, peo - ple fired up snow blowers, hoisted shovels and slogged through sloppy and treach- erous commutes. Tens of thousands of homes and businesses in northern Illinois and Indi - ana lost power, and a few hundred flights were can- celed at Chicago's airports. The city got about 6 inches of snow. If you are the highest bid- der at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien be- ing auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priori- ty, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county re- corder's office or a title insur- ance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this in formation. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mort- gage or deed of trust on the property.
