The City of Fayetteville held a North Carolina Veterans Park topping off ceremony March 16. The topping off ceremony featured the placement of the park’s tallest tower element. Tradition calls for such an event. City Council members, City staff members, other elected construction workers, veterans and selected participants signed the tower element, which is part of the 40-feet tall Pride and Purpose Tower. Pictured is City Manager Dale Iman at the ceremony. The North Carolina Veterans Park will feature a 3,500 military branch, an Iron Mike statue, a Gen. Hugh Shelton statue, numerous water features, bronze hand castings of veterans from all 100 counties in North Carolina on an oath wall, community columns with county names on them, the Pride and Purpose Tower, seven pieces of public art, which are part or wholly made from decommissioned military materials, and an amphitheater. A park dedication ceremony is set for Monday, July 4 at 10 a.m. The North Carolina Veterans Park is located at 300 Bragg Blvd., next to the Airborne & Special Operations Museum.
